The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering was established in 2011-12 with an intake capacity of 60 for UG. The department has started a PG program i.e. M.E. (VLSI & Embedded Systems) in the year of 2012-13 with an intake of 24.VLSI Design presents state-of-the-art papers in VLSI design, computer-aided design, design analysis, design implementation, simulation and testing. Factors such as increasing capability of an integrated circuit (IC) over the years in terms of computation power, utilization of available area and yield have opened up new frontiers for the VLSI industry to grow. Since VLSI is a niche industry, skill sets in this industry are short in supply and therefore in great demand. Hence there is tremendous scope and growth for those who choose VLSI design and embedded systems as a career.
Advances in VLSI have today enabled most systems to become compact, highly reliable and deliver data at high speed. Further the advances facilitate the designer to tailor the IC for specific applications (Application Specific Integrated Circuits). Requirement of improved solutions for miniaturization, high speed, reliability, and high performance computers, necessitates skilled engineers. Thus there is an urgent need to produce quality engineers who can conceive, design and develop VLSI and Embedded systems.
Our Laboratories have been very well established not only to cover complete syllabus but to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which definitely develops complete knowledge of the subject (both the practical and theoretical depth of knowledge) and develop skill sets of students to become promising engineers in future.
Hence I welcome all PG students to the Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering at Shree Ramchandra College of Engineering, Pune.
