Diploma First Year Engineering

MSBTE, Mumbai has redesigned the curriculum of Diploma Engineering of all branches in academic year 2023-24 to meet the recent trends and growth in engineering and technology and NEP-2020. Science is the base of engineering and technology hence the goal of departmental staff is to prepare strong, concrete and sound foundation of first year students which is necessary to formulate, solve, analyze engineering problem and to prepare them for higher studies.
About Department:
All engineering fields have unique bonds with the chemistry world. In today’s society, Chemistry is greatly involved in the world of engineering. Whether it is aerospace, mechanical, environmental or other engineering fields, the makeup of substances is always a key factor which must be known. Physics is the mother of all sciences. Mathematics and Chemistry are finally the derivatives of Physics. Engineering is also a form of Applied Science with Physics as an important part. All the activities in our daily life involve the application of science. For example, ironing clothes; cooking, washing, answering a telephone call, listening to the radio, etc. are some of the activities where we use the principles of science.
Engineering mechanics, bridges the gap between physical theory and its application to technology. It is used in many fields of engineering, especially mechanical engineering and civil engineering. In computer engineering, applied mechanics can be used to create or enhance hardware components such as microprocessors, motherboards, and other physical components. Applied mechanics is the application of mechanics to solve problems involving common engineering elements. Within the practical sciences, applied mechanics is useful in formulating new ideas and theories, discovering and interpreting phenomena, and developing experimental and computational tools. Applied mechanics is a field of study that involves the design and application of mechanical systems.
Mathematics is being introduced in diploma courses to provide mathematical background to the students. This course follows in developing theory and competency needed for a wide range of engineering applications.
Communication is an important part of smooth and effective functioning of every industry or business activity. Effective business communication is the lifeblood of any organization. The efficacy of business communication skills are essential for engineering professionals for instructing, guiding and motivating subordinates to achieve desired goals at work place. It is very crucial for an entrepreneur to run organization successfully by communicating effectively with employees, customers and investors.
